With the aim of recognizing and encouraging the study, reflection, and promotion of humor as a cultural, artistic, social, and human phenomenon, the Humor Sapiens International Award was created.
This annual award is presented by the Chilean-Cuban website Humor Sapiens, a reference platform for the study and reflection on humor since its founding in 2013. The award seeks to recognize individuals who, through research, teaching, criticism, creative work, or cultural activities, make a significant contribution to the understanding and appreciation of humor in its many dimensions.
Each year, the Humor Sapiens International Award is presented to an Outstanding Person: a scholar, researcher, thinker, or promoter of humor whose work represents a significant contribution to the field.
Award recipients receive an exclusive trophy and an honorary diploma certifying their contribution to the world of humor from a sapiential perspective — that is, with awareness, depth, and commitment.
Through this award, Humor Sapiens reaffirms its mission to build bridges between laughter and thought, between entertainment and wisdom, and between humor and its serious study.
